Photoshop Can Now Rotate ANY Object with AI… Sort Of
Photoshop just introduced a brand new AI-powered Rotate Object tool… and honestly, it’s one of the wildest additions we’ve seen in a long time. In this past week's Nucly Academy meetup (https://nucly.com/academy) I discussed the tool; how it works, what I like about it, what I don't and also what I think it does a lot better than many other AI tools.
We’ll test the tool on vehicles, objects, and people while exploring what AI is actually doing during the rotation process. We’ll also cover:
- How the Rotate Object tool builds a 3D interpretation from a 2D image
- Why clean cutouts matter before rotating
- How perspective and focal length affect the outcome
- Rebuilding shadows after rotation
- The biggest limitations with faces and human subjects
- Keyboard shortcut setup for faster workflow
- When this tool is useful for composites — and when it absolutely isn’t
Some of the results are genuinely impressive. Others are nightmare fuel.
If you’re a compositor, concept artist, or Photoshop power user, this tool is worth understanding now because it changes what’s possible inside Photoshop without needing external 3D software.
